Books:Scrapbooking Mystery Series by Laura Childs

It’s been five days since I have been among the living. I got smacked with a cold or virus over the weekend and this is my first day back at work. Whew! Staying in bed five days is a real drag.

At first I just laid there thinking of all the scrappin’ I could be doing. Then I decided to read. I love to read mysteries, but I was still thinking Scrapbooking. So, I grabbed one of Laura Childs Scrapbooking Mysteries, Bound for Murder, and satisfied both indulgences.

This was the second book I have read in this series. It’s what some people call a ‘Cozy Mystery’ or ‘Chicklit’. It was perfect for lying in bed with a stuffy head and sore throat. Not too heavy that I had to really think about what I was reading but, interesting enough to keep me turning pages.

It’s very nice that there are recipe’s and scrapbooking tips in the back of the book. Of course I always read those first. That’s kind of fun. Also, some of the projects they are working on during the story line are interesting ideas as well.

The gest of the series is about a gal named Carmela Bertrand who owns a Scrapbooking Store named Memory Mine, (Cute name huh?) in New Orleans. She has a group of ‘regulars’ that hang out at the table in the back of the store, ‘Crafter’s Central’. They all get together practically every day and work on their own projects. Sometimes Carmela is teaching a class on something so it’s kind of fun.

Somehow, Carmela seems to get involved in a murder or some kind of ‘mystery’ that is happening or has happened withing her area. The characters are wonderful and the story lines are always fun and keep you guessing until the end of the book.

I highly recommend these little gems that are a quick read and indulge our addiction to Scrapbooking. For more information go to Laurachilds.com.
