CB Acetate Challenge

I lifted this great card idea from
Becky.
Above you can see how awesome the acetate looks after embossing with the Cuttlebug Swirls embossing folder. I actually used the acetate cover that my CB folder came in! This is a great way to recycle! I told my sisters not to throw away their acetate, keep it for me to scrapbook with. They looked at me kind of funny so I had to explain what acetate is and then I had to show them this cute card I made. They loved it of course, and one of my sister’s is a scrapper and has a CB, so she is keeping her acetate for herself. My other sister has 11 children so the acetate should keep on coming for quite a while.
Here we go with my first tutorial:
Items needed
Supplies used in making this card: 5 1/2 x 4 inch piece of acetate, 6 1/2 x 4 inch piece of card stock or heavy designer paper, 5 1/4 x 4 inch piece of coordinating card stock, 1 x 4 1/4 inch piece of designer paper matching your 6 1/2 x 4 1/4 piece, extra pieces of designer paper and card stock. Cuttlebug’s D’Vine Swirls embossing folder and Celebration Stamps embossing folders and die cut. Fiskars Scissors-Scallop, Buttons, Fiber scraps, and Tombow Mono Adhesive.

These are just showing how pretty the acetate is and I didn’t sand it or alter it in any way. This is a picture straight from the Cuttlebug.
1. Score, (I use my fiskars trimmer with the score attachment instead of the cutting blade), your 6 1/2 x 4 piece of heavy cardstock paper at 1 inch from the top so when folded over the final dimensions are 5 1/2 x 4. This is your glue tab for the front of your card trim the border first with your Fiskars Scissor or punch design of your choice.

Trim with your Fiskars or a punch for the bottom border.
2. Create a matching border on your 1 x 4 1/4 inch piece of designer paper and attach to the front bottom piece of acetate. Glue your 5 1/4 x 4 inch piece of card stock to the inside of the card. While the glue is drying you get to use your Cuttlebug now!

Glue the tab to the acetate
2. Using your Cuttlebug and Celebration Stamps, cut your stamp and glue to your card.

3. Now you can emboss with the Celebration stamp folder of your choice.

4. Embellish any way you want. I wrapped a fiber scrap across the top border, and a button. Then I added three buttons on the bottom border.
The glue I used for this project is Tombow Mono-adhesive. It dries clear and quickly, so it’s perfect to use with acetate.
I hope you liked my tutorial. Let me know what you think and what I can improve on next time. I hope to have more How-to’s on video for you soon. Thanks for stopping by and come back soon. Be sure and subscribe to my RSS feed so you won’t miss a thing.

Made this card last night. I added the gold because it was looking kind of Christmasy with the green and red. It came out better than I thought it would.

I am having so much fun making these Beautiful Cards! Talk about ‘instant gratification’, I made three before work this morning. It is fun and easy but it doesn’t take a lot of creativity with these. I think because everything coordinates, the stickers, paper, die-cuts, it’s all right there. That makes me think I should start organizing all my papers, stickers, die-cuts, by colors that coordinate with each other. Now I have plans for the weekend. GET ORGANIZED!!
Also, I am going to start making How-To videos and posting them on my blog. Should be fun so stay tuned! I am planning on having this going by March 1, 2009.
